Mercedes-Benz and its performance divisions AMG and HWA are planning to release several new models in the coming years including a high-performance coupe slotted between the outgoing SLR and the upcoming SL Black Series from AMG. The new car will be targeted directly at the upcoming V10 version of the Audi R8 as Mercedes' halo performance car.

The Swiss firm Weber Sportscars first introduced its production car land speed record contender in May, 2007. That car was claimed to be capable of 400km/h - a figure that has since been exceeded by at least two production cars. Now the company has updated their challenger for the world’s top-speed crown with even more power and speed, and new name - the Faster One, or F1.

Revealed at the 2008 Concorsa d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the M1 Concept shows BMW can reinterpret its classics in a modern and daring way. The concept was created to mark the 30th anniversary of the original M1 supercar and was penned by the carmaker’s new design chief Adrian van Hooydonk, who presents the car in this official video.

Toyota has confirmed its upcoming Lexus LF-A supercar will contest the Nurburgring 24 hour endurance challenge – dubbed the 36th ADAC Zurich 24h Race 2008 – in Germany next month.

This will be the first public debut of the new supercar although details about the final production model are expected to be kept secret.

Lamborghini’s new jetfighter-inspired supercar has finally broken cover and we can now reveal that the €1 million supercar will be called the ‘Reventón.’ The car will be manufactured in a limited run of just 20 copies and is powered by a 650hp 6.5L V12 engine. Peak torque stands at 660Nm and drive is sent through the permanent Viscous Traction AWD system via Lamborghini’s e-gear transmission. As in the original Murciélago LP640, the Reventon accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and has a maximum speed of over 340km/h.
