Few cars carry as much interest as the Bugatti Veyron, famous for its
ultra-high price tag, striking looks and other-worldly speeds. Now, an
even more exclusive ‘roofless’ version dubbed the Veyron 16.4 Grand
Sport has been revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
motoring event in California.
American supercar manufacturer Shelby Supercars, or SSC, isn’t as well
known as the likes of Bugatti, Ferrari or Lamborghini, but it’s a
special company for several reasons. In addition to holding the world
record for the fastest production car, the company has just announced
it’s developing an all-electric version of its Ultimate Aero supercar
(pictured) that it hopes will become the world’s fastest electric
vehicle (EV).
Owning a Bugatti Veyron is an experience only a handful of the world’s
richest will be able to enjoy. The car’s mega-dollar price tag and
limited production run of just 300 cars worldwide – all in left hand
drive – means even fewer Australians will ever get to own the superlative ridden
supercar, famous for accelerating faster than an F1 car and capable of
reaching speeds in excess of 400km/h.
Making an exclusive car even more exclusive is no easy task - especially when it's a 400km/h, sixteen-cylinder supercar. Drawing on the history of legendary car maker Bugatti, the newest limited edition Veyron - called the Sang Noir - pays homage to one of the company's most dramatic designs of the 1930s, the Bugatti Atlantic.
Two new supercars were revealed today by British maker
Keating. The TKR race-car and SKR tourer come in a variety of guises, ranging
in power from a respectable 300kW up to a mind-shattering 1100kW. Using GM-sourced
engines and high-tech construction, the company is already claiming the TKR is
more than a match for the fastest cars in the world.
