It was a mixed result for Ferrari at this weekend’s Valencia Grand Prix
in Spain, with Felipe Massa showing a return to form by dominating the
race from pole start and clinching victory. His team mate Kimi
Raikkonen, however, suffered a number of bungles and eventually retired
near the end of the race due to a blown engine.
It was another disappointing day for Ferrari at the Hungarian GP, with
lead driver Felipe Massa suffering an engine problem with just three
laps to go. This handed the win to McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen, who
recorded his first ever win from 28 starts in his F1 career. McLaren team
mate Lewis Hamilton was in second place for most of the race after
starting on pole but fell back to fifth at the flag due to a tire
puncture.
Prototypes for Maserati’s next model, a new coupe-cabrio based on the same platform as the Ferrari California, were first seen testing more than a year ago but soon disappeared once engineers started focusing on completing the car with the Prancing Horse badge. New spy photos reveal the Maserati version is back in testing, though from outward appearances it still has considerable work ahead of it.
Governments around the world are bowing to public pressure to reduce
greenhouse gases, and more often than not the first sector they look at
is the auto industry. The Australian government is currently
considering introducing a new carbon emissions trading scheme to help
put a cap on the combined amount of CO2 emitted each year, while in
Europe governments have proposed a ruling that could see carmaker’s
forced to limit their fleet average carbon levels to 130g/km by as
early as 2012 (the current average is about 160g/km).
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton took home top honours at yesterday’s British
GP, delivering a decisive drive in the wet conditions and reigniting
his world title challenge. Hamilton is now tied with the two Ferrari
drivers - Kimi Raikkonen who finished fourth and Felipe Massa who ended
13th - at the top of the championship point’s ladder.
Felipe Massa took the win at yesterday’s French GP at Magny-Cours after
pole-sitter and race leader Kimi Raikkonnen suffered a broken exhaust
just before the midpoint, though the Finn still managed to hang on for
second place. Toyota driver Jarno Trulli also managed to bring home his
team's first podium spot since 2005, finishing third. Mark Webber hung
on despite a scare at the last corner to finish in sixth.
Ferrari has released more details about the latest addition to its expanding line-up, the long rumoured California, and for the first time revealed images of the car’s new automated folding hard-top roof.
Reigning F1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen has said he's sorry for crashing
into the rear of Force-India’s Adrian Sutil in the closing minutes of
the Monaco GP last Sunday, ending the team’s chances of earning its
first championship points and a possible fourth place finish for the
young German driver.
Lewis Hamilton fought his way to victory yesterday at a
rain-soaked Monaco GP after starting from third place on the grid and suffering
a tyre puncture following an early scrape with a barrier. Poor weather
conditions and two periods with the safety car saw the race end after the two
hour limit was reached, leaving BMW’s Robert Kubica and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa
to take second and third places respectively.
The launch of a new model is never an easy task, especially with spy photographers giving their all to out the new car before it’s even finished. To help gain back a bit of control – and build anticipation – over the debut of its upcoming Grand Tourer, Ferrari has launched a new website that will be slowly leaking bits of the car’s look, sound and feel over the coming weeks.
