It has been six years since the original Jazz hatchback first came to
Australian shores, and now Honda is following this up with the
introduction of the second-generation model. The small hatch has been a
sales success for Honda, and with renewed styling, new engines and a
growing market for small cars the new Jazz is expected to continue this
trend.
Honda has updated its Legend sedan flagship, giving the car extra power and torque plus a new look to help keep it fresh as it reaches its mid-life. Honda hopes the changes will boost sales before the introduction of the next-generation model, which is expected to arrive early next decade.
Carbon fibre is seen by many in the auto industry as one of
the most effective ways of reducing vehicle weight and improving fuel economy
and emissions levels, but the relative expense of the material means that it’s
still reserved for only a handful of high-end production cars. BMW has
effectively used carbon fibre roofs for its M cars to help lower their centre
of gravity, and Nissan, Ferrari, and GM have used the composite material to help save
weight on supercars such as Nissan's GT-R, Ferrari's F430 Scuderia, and the Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1.
Honda has taken the covers off a new two-seat concept for a
future low-emissions sports car that’s already being touted as a preview of the
replacement for the aging S2000 roadster. The new concept, dubbed the Open
Study Model (OSM), is officially described as a ‘design study’ that promotes
Honda’s new green performance image.
The all-new Subaru Exiga seven-seat wagon was released last month in
Japan and the vehicle is now being considered for an Australia release
with local officials currently in negotiations with Subaru’s parent
company back in Japan. The spacious-but-efficient MPV class is already
a tough market, but with fuel prices driving buyers away from larger
vehicles it may be the right time for a sporty new entry.
The annual NRMA car theft ratings have been announced for 2008 and have been compiled using a host of different statistics including real-world theft figures and the number of anti-theft devices, break-in resistance features and vehicle identity systems installed. An important finding was that by simply adding a $2 self-voiding identification label, car manufacturers could greatly improve theft deterrence.
The long-awaited replacement for Honda's NSX supercar is finally nearing completion after several drawbacks, mostly concerning the styling of the new model, caused major delays in its gestation.
Photos of the car seen at the Nurburgring show that the NSX's successor will share little in common with the original's shape or style, and hints that the mechanical layout will be very different as well.
The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria's (RACV) latest statistics on vehicle ownership and
operating costs has confirmed something we all already knew - that the costs of
running a vehicle have increased substantially in recent times. In fact, the costs have gone up
more than 7% in the past year alone.
Honda’s second-generation Accord Euro is poised to ignite the
competitive midsize sedan market, with a brand new platform, a wider and longer body, plus improved performance and luxury all in its arsenal.
Differentiating the new model from the old is the more chiselled design and pronounced muscular wheel-arches, plus a more spacious body and superior handling and dynamics.
